The winners of the York Chapter of Credit Unions scholarship contest are Madison Cook and Olivia Smeltzer. Both students received $1,000 toward their first year of postsecondary education.
Madison, the daughter of Clifford and Sherry Cook, graduated from Dover Area High School where she was part of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and an honor roll student. Madison was a member of the marching band and the varsity soccer and softball teams. Madison plans to attend York College of Pennsylvania to major in medical laboratory science.
Olivia, the daughter of Kristen Smeltzer, graduated from Dallastown Area High School where she was a member of Future Leaders of York, Dallastown Forensics Team, Girls Learn International, and Dallastown Counselor Advisory Committee. She was also a Distinguished Young Women of York award winner. Olivia plans to attend Mount St. Mary's University and use her education to develop an understanding of ethical leadership and business practices in an increasingly globalized world.
