Three Middletown Area High School (MAHS) instrumentalists in the Class of 2020 captured the highest rank of first chair at two Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) competitions, earning them the title of top student in the state on their instrument.
Daniel Brenner and Megan Burghdorf advanced to the State Concert Band competition and claimed the first chairs in clarinet and trumpet, respectively. Connor Leiby auditioned his way into the alto saxophone first chair in the State Jazz Band competition.
These students were unable to participate with their peers from around the state since PMEA festivals were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
