The YMCA of York and York County and the York YMCA Swim Team invite children to participate in the 12th annual Kids Triathlon on Saturday, Sept. 19, beginning at 9 a.m.
The event's swim portion will take place in a 25-meter pool at the Graham Aquatic Center, 543 N. Newberry St., York. The run portion will be held at Farquhar Park, 570 N. Newberry St., York. The bike portion will take place on the road circling Kiwanis Lake and in adjacent neighborhoods.
Youths ages 7 to 10 will report to the stands for a pre-race meeting at 8:45 a.m. in their designated seating area. Youths ages 11 to 14 and relay teams will report to the stands for a pre-race meeting at 10:45 a.m. in their designated seating area. Masks will be required on deck.
Registration is open to the first 130 youths. Participants must be at least age 7 by Sept. 19. Separate fees have been set for individuals and teams. Individual youth racers will receive a free T-shirt if registered by Friday, Aug. 31. Registration includes free clinics. Preregistration is required. Registration will close on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Bike helmets will be required and must be approved. All participants will need to wear appropriate footwear for the bike and run portions.
Registrants are encouraged to pick up their packets prior to the event at the Graham Aquatic Center from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, or Friday, Sept. 18. A mandatory pre-race meeting for all participants and parents will be held in the stands of the Graham Aquatic Center at 8:45 a.m. on Sept. 19.
