The Dauphin County Library System has planned two online programs.
Teenagers may hone their storytelling skills, think creatively, and work together to defeat villains each week at Dungeons and Dragons. On Fridays, Aug. 7 to 28, at 3 p.m., participants will meet fellow adventurers on the library system's Discord channel. All sessions will take place virtually on Discord making it necessary for all adventurers to have a computer or mobile device to join.
Dungeons and Dragons is for beginners and experts. No dice, books, or characters are required. Registrants will be emailed a Discord link and instructions the day before each session as a weekly reminder.
This program is designed for people ages 13 to 18. Registration is required by visiting http://www.dcls.org/eventscalendar.
The "Imagine Your Story" Summer Reading Program will offer a Summer Armchair Traveler Series at 11 a.m. on Mondays, Aug. 10 to 31. Each week will feature a different castle worthy of starring in a classic fairytale from around the world. The blog series will explore the history and culture of these structures. Readers may take virtual tours and receive book, movie, and music recommendations to take them further into the tale. For details, readers may visit http://www.dcls.org/beyondtheshelves.
