Keystone Games Goes Virtual

The Keystone Games and Pennsylvania Senior Games have partnered with the KARES (Keystone Athletic, Recreation and eSports) Community to provide virtual opportunities for fitness as a way of staying connected and maintaining or improving one's level of physical fitness. The KARES Community's focus is on the whole individual's wellness - physical, mental, emotional, and social.

The Keystone Games has been providing sporting events for the last 39 years, but this is the first year it will offer a virtual race and introduce esports to its athletes. Every registrant will receive an automatic entry into the Esports Challenge. Prizes will be awarded to the top esports competitors. Not only can esports be highly competitive, but they are also a way to stay connected with friends and family and to make new friends.

Participants are encouraged to join the KARES Community as fitness and sports activities are introduced at http://www.facebook.com/karescommunity. The KARES Community is open to people of all ages.

Registration includes a T-shirt, a printable Keystone Games 5K Run/Walk race bib, a finisher medal, a free KARES Community face mask for the first 1,000 participants, registration into the Esports Challenge with prizes for top finishers, online results, and free shipping. There is a cost to enter the 5K run/walk.

To join, readers must register for the Keystone Games 5K Run/Walk and run or walk a 5K (3.1 miles) any time through Saturday, Oct. 31. Participants can run or walk any place that works for them.

Keystone Games 5K Run/Walk and Esports Challenge T-shirts and finisher medals will begin shipping on Monday, Oct. 19. Participants can begin practicing for the Esports Challenge after receiving an email with instructions and selected games for competition. Participants will then compete in the Esports Challenge online from Friday, Oct. 16, through Oct. 31.
