YWCA Lancaster will celebrate Women's Equality Day, Wednesday, Aug. 26, with a virtual panel discussion from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The event will take place on the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment's official certification, which guaranteed women the right to vote.
The event, part of the Community Now series, will be a nonpartisan discussion hosted by Lancaster Votes and supported by YWCA Lancaster and the Lancaster Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta.
On Aug. 26, panelists will speak not only about voting rights, but also the current efforts in Lancaster city focused on racial equity. YWCA Lancaster board member Kesha Morant Williams will facilitate a discussion with Danene Sorace, mayor of the city of Lancaster; Tracy A. Jones, founder and executive director of the T. Alexander Foundation Inc.; and Tene Darby of the SACA Steering Committee, Latinx Caucus, and Habitat for Humanity board.
