Byrnes Health Education Center, 515 S. George St., York, will offer Puberty Parenting Programs in 2020 and 2021 for parents of both girls and boys as well as children with special needs. The children should also plan to attend. Programs will take place on campus at both the center in York as well as the satellite office at The Candy Factory, Warehouse D, 342 N. Queen St., Lancaster.
Each program will focus on the natural changes that take place during puberty and offer a relaxed setting for both the adult and student participating. The programs include Girls & Moms, Boys & Dads, Girls Puberty Program for Special Learners, Boys Puberty Program for Special Learners, and Moms & Sons.
The adults in attendance may include parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles, or an adult guardian and should be the same gender as the child in attendance, except for Moms & Sons. Children with special learning needs may include those who have autism, Down syndrome, learning disabilities, and/or developmental delays.
Programs will be held multiple times in York. Girls & Moms will be offered on Tuesdays, Sept. 15, Oct. 20, Nov. 17, Jan. 19, Feb. 16, March 16, April 20, May 18, and June 15. Boys & Dads will be held on Wednesdays, Oct. 21 and April 21. Girls Puberty Program for Special Learners will be offered on Wednesdays, Sept. 23, Nov. 25, Feb. 24, and April 28. Boys Puberty Program for Special Learners will take place on Tuesdays, Sept. 22, Nov. 24, Feb. 23, and April 27.
In Lancaster, Girls & Moms will be held on Thursdays, Oct. 29 and March 4. Boys & Dads will be held on Thursdays, Nov. 12 and March 18. Moms & Sons will be held on Thursdays, Oct. 8 and April 8.
