The Ma & Pa Railroad Heritage Village, 1258 Muddy Creek Forks Road, Airville, will hold its World War II encampment weekend on Saturday, Aug. 22, and Sunday, Aug. 23.
Admission to the event, which will be held at the Heritage Village, is free. The event will feature displays of military equipment including jeeps, motorcycles, trucks, and an armored personnel carrier along with exhibits of armaments and military supplies. All encampment activities will occur outside. Attendees are encouraged to practice social distancing and wear face masks on the grounds.
The museum will also offer guided tours of the village followed by train rides at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 22 as well as at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 23. Separate ticket prices have been set for adults and for children. Access to the historic buildings of Muddy Creek Forks will be limited to ticketed visitors on guided tours. Re-enactors will seek to provide accurate interpretations of the various armies and will interact with visitors. This year's event will also include the return of the speaker's series, which will consist of a group of World War II veterans who will share their experiences. The public is invited to attend.
