Theater Company Sets Classes

Sep 08, 2020 - 6:30 pm

Red Accordion Studios will present its first theater education class, Acting 101, this fall with Broadway and Sight & Sound veteran David Michael Felty. The eight-week series will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Sept. 8 through Oct. 27. All classes will be held at Grace Church, 501 W. Lincoln Ave., Lititz.

Acting 101 is for youths ages 12 to 18 and will explore content typically covered in college freshman-level acting classes, such as beats and tactics, essential action, improvisation, monologues, and truthfulness in acting with an introduction to Stanislavski. The class will take place in-person in a large space to ensure social distancing. The class will also be available via Zoom.

Registration is required and there is a fee to join. For more information or to register, readers may visit http://www.redaccordionstudios.com.

Felty appeared on Broadway in Frank Wildhorn's "The Civil War" and in the third national Broadway tour of "Les Miserables." Along with several regional theater productions of the show, Felty performed the role of Jean Valjean more than 500 times. He has also performed on the Sight & Sound stage as Boaz in "Ruth" and as Lucifer in "In the Beginning," among others. Most recently, Felty grew and developed the musical theater major at Lancaster Bible College for seven years. Under his leadership, the program grew from three to 30 students.
