Vision Resources of Central Pennsylvania encourages the public to consider striving for 20-20-20 in 2020. Many people may be experiencing more screen time since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Many people are spending more time with Zoom meetings, webinars, and other video conferencing at work. At home, they may use their mobile phone and laptop and watch television.
Children are also at risk for eye strain with schools practicing safe distancing by teaching via computers. School administrators and teachers should be aware that breaks are necessary.
Designed to reduce eye fatigue, the 20-20-20 rule states that for every 20 minutes of screen time, an individual should look away at something at least 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. Regular screen breaks can give the eyes some much-needed rest and help prevent eye strain. The 20-20-20 rule should be followed by people of all ages.
