Floral Designs of Mount Joy, 1599 W. Main St., Mount Joy, will present a Community Flower Fair from Thursday, Oct. 1 through Saturday, Oct. 3. The event has been created in response to the cancellation of fairs and many people missing the opportunity to display their floral designs and home-grown flowers.
Participants from the Mount Joy area and surrounding communities are invited to showcase their floral designs and flower specimens. Exhibitors will be accepted in four age categories: adults and youths from kindergarten through grade three, grades four through six and grades seven through 12.
Entries will be accepted on Oct. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Judging will take place after the entry deadline. All exhibits will be on display to the public in the shop's event space on Friday, Oct. 2, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
On Oct. 3, the Mount Joy Rotary fry wagon will offer french fries and fair food for purchase. Proceeds from the food sales will benefit the Rotary club's outreach projects.
Registration to exhibit floral designs or flower specimens is required. The link to register can be found at http://www.floraldesignsofmountjoy.com. Prizes and ribbons will be awarded.
The Community Flower Fair does not stop at flowers. Floral Designs of Mount Joy will also host a children's coloring contest. The coloring page was hand drawn by the Floral Designs in-house artist, Emma's Custom Art. Those who would like to take part are asked to stop by Floral Designs of Mount Joy to pick up the coloring page or download a printable copy of the page from the aforementioned website. Children ages 4 to 9 are invited to enter.
Masks and social distancing are highly recommended when visiting the shop. The overhead doors will also be open to increase air flow.
