Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.

Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. No items will be accepted over the phone.

Neighbors Meeting

Neighbors Caring and Sharing, a Christian women's group that meets weekly at Conestoga Mennonite Church in Morgantown, will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 9:15 to 11 a.m. Guest speaker Carol Cool will present "Living in the Present: Practicing the Lord's Prayer."

Senior Connections

Senior Connections will meet on Thursday, Oct. 8, at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St. (Route 23), Morgantown. There will be a meal at noon followed by guest speaker Dr. Michael Luna, who will share about his studies of the tabernacle. Attendees are asked to wear a mask.

Chicken Barbecue

Geigertown Fire Company will hold a drive-through chicken barbecue on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal will include one-half of a chicken, a baked potato, corn, a roll with butter, applesauce and a bottle of water.

Soup, Baked Goods Sale

The Honey Brook Lions Club will hold a chicken corn soup and baked goods sale on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lions Club Community Center, 14 Mount Pleasant Road and Route 10, Honey Brook. Gourd Painting

Rock Hollow Woods Environmental Learning Center, 615 Rock Hollow Road, Birdsboro, will host its first painting event for adults on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Participants will go through a step-by-step process to paint a Halloween-themed gourd. Virtual Run

OneRunTogether's "Ready Set GLOW" virtual 5K/10K race will be held between 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, and 10 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25. Since the event will not be held in person due to COVID-19, runners are being asked to run in their neighborhoods, on their treadmills or on local trails and report the times when finished. Registered runners and walkers will receive glow items and a T-shirt.

Halloween Line Dancing

Geigertown Fire Company, 3433 Hay Creek Road, Geigertown, will hold a night of line dancing with DJ Boots and Nancy on Friday, Oct. 30, from 7 to 11 p.m. Attendees are asked to wear Halloween costumes. The dance will be an indoor/outdoor event with room to provide safe social distancing. Masks will be required.

Online Classes

Cavod Academy of the Arts, New Holland, is offering virtual options this year. All classes, excluding tumbling and acrobatic arts, will be available to take online via Zoom. Cavod's studios are equipped with high-definition televisions and a state-of-the-art sound system. Online students will be able to see the classroom and their teachers and classmates.
