GOAL Project Sets Virtual Training

GOAL Project will host a one-hour Zoom training from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Nov. 4, 5, and 6. Called "Mentoring With Care," the training is geared toward people who are interested in learning how to better support individuals in recovery. The workshops have been rescheduled from October.

Attendees will receive an overview of how to effectively provide support to family members with substance abuse disorder, and they will learn about the role of peers in recovery. The training will also provide tools for listening to encourage sustained recovery, tools to help attendees grow trust with individuals in recovery, and tips for how to set boundaries and prioritize self-care.

The workshop will be presented by Scott Theurer, a Lancaster County native who is in long-term recovery from substance abuse disorder. For the past several years he has been involved in the recovery advocacy movement in Lancaster County. His passion is working with individuals in the early stages of recovery as well as those still struggling to find recovery. He is a member of the Lancaster County Recovery Alliance, a team member at TW Ponessa's Center of Excellence, an opioid treatment and recovery program, and a state-certified recovery specialist.

Three PCB credit hours are available. The registration deadline is Monday, Nov. 2. To register, readers may visit https://goalproject.org. More information is available by emailing mail@goalproject.org.
