The Hempfield Youth Association (HYA) will place two teams in the L-L Boys Youth Basketball Travel League this year. This is not an intramural rec league. There will be one team for boys in grade five and one team for boys in grade six. Each team will consist of 10 players.
Tryouts will be held at the Hempfield Rec Center, 950 Church St., Landisville. Fifth-graders may try out on Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 6 to 7 p.m.; on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 6 to 7 p.m. Tryouts for sixth-graders will be held on Oct. 27 from 7 to 8 p.m.; on Oct. 31 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.; and on Nov. 4 from 7 to 8 p.m.
The program is for highly skilled players who are on a dedicated path to high school varsity basketball participation. All participants must register http://www.playhya.com by Oct. 27 at 5 p.m. in order to be considered. Players should visit http://www.hempfieldrec.com and review the Safety Measures section to learn what protocols they must adhere to while at the facility.
