The Lancaster Science Factory, 454 New Holland Ave., Lancaster, will host The Force Returns, its sixth annual event celebrating the science and characters of the Star Wars films, on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 14 and 15. Visitors are encouraged to dress as their favorite Star Wars character.
Attendance will be limited to 30% capacity to help ensure the health and safety of visitors and performers. Masks are required for all visitors over age 2.
On Nov. 14 from noon to 3 p.m., costume characters and droids from the Light Side will be featured. Members of Capital City Jedi Knights, Ghost Base, Mandalorian Mercs, Galactic Academy and the Mid-Atlantic Droid Builders will provide free photo opportunities at stations around the exhibit hall. Attendees may pose in front of a Death Star backdrop while holding a lightsaber, or they may travel to Hoth, Endor and other worlds by posing in front of two green screens. The Capital City Jedi Knights will perform pop-up battles on the Rock 'N' Roll Stage.
A Padawan Workshop will be available to those who sign up when purchasing tickets. Children age 5 and up will make a lightsaber and then use it to complete Jedi apprenctice training. Space is limited.
Characters from the Dark Side will by featured on Nov. 15 from noon to 2 p.m. There will be photo opportunities with dozens of costumed characters from Garrison Carida, part of the 501st Legion. Stormtroopers will try to build a giant arch, and Darth Vader will dance on an energy floor.
Children age 5 and up may participate in a Star Wars Slime Workshop. Children will make Star Wars-themed slime to take home. The workshop will also include messy chemistry demonstrations. Spaces are limited, and reservations should be made when purchasing tickets to the event.
On both days, hands-on activities will be available in the Science Cafe. The activities, which are included with admission, will highlight the science and engineering behind the Star Wars movies.
