On select weekdays, LPL Study Hall will be available to students ages 9 to 18. Students who need more reliable Wi-Fi for virtual learning are invited to work on school assignments in person at the Lancaster City Branch. The study hall will be open on Mondays from 3 to 6 p.m., Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon.
Chronicles of Yarnia, a knit and crochet group for people age 9 and up, meets most Mondays at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Mamma Goosie Storytime for children meets most Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. via Facebook Live.
Jenn's Craft Corner for children ages 4 to 8 meets via Facebook on the first and third Fridays of every month at 2 p.m. Children make crafts along with Miss Jenn using supplies found in art bags distributed at the Mountville branch.
Discovering Short Stories, a Zoom discussion group, meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 10 a.m. On Nov. 4 the group will discuss "In a Bamboo Grove" by Ryunosuke Akutagawa and "In the Night" by Jamaica Kincaid. The Thursday Book Group, which meets via Zoom on the second Thursday of every month at 10 a.m., will discuss Joseph Heller's "Catch 22" on Nov. 12.
Live with Janet Evanovich: Fortune and Glory will take place on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. Evanovich, an author, will join the library via livestream on Zoom to discuss her new novel and then answer questions from the audience. Registration is required.
"What Should I Buy My Gamer?" will take place via Zoom on Monday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. The program will focus on finding out what video game console is best for one's family.
TED Circles, hosted by TedXLancaster, will meet on Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. Participants will watch and then discuss a TED Talk about what people can trust. The program is offered on the second Thursday of each month via Zoom.
The Minecrafter-School group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 3:30 p.m. via Twitch. This month's program will occur on Nov. 10. Minecrafternoons meets on the fourth Saturday of every month at 3 p.m. via Twitch. This month's program will occur on Nov. 28.
The Noveltea Book Club meets on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in person at the Mountville branch, and the group will discuss Tommy Orange's "There, There" on Nov. 19. The Dorothy Height Book Club meets on the third Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. via Zoom and will discuss election-related reading materials on Nov. 19.
Let's Draw Together meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. via Zoom. School-age children are invited to join on Nov. 18 to draw and to sharpen their skills.
Into the Strange: A Sci-Fi Book Club meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. via Zoom and will discuss "Magic for Liars" by Sarah Gailey on Nov. 24.
Lancaster Public Library's Lancaster city and Mountville branches are open for limited, in-person library services. Patrons may enter the building to choose books, DVDs, and CDs, as well as to use the public computers and print or make copies. Passport services have resumed by appointment only at the Lancaster city branch.
For everyone's safety, face masks must be worn properly while inside the library at all times. Patrons who do not wish to enter the building or who cannot wear a face mask are invited to request a Grab Bag of books and/or DVDs handpicked by the librarians.
