The Columbia Public Library, 24 S. Sixth St., Columbia, is reaching out to the community for support. Like many other organizations, the library has faced challenges during the coronavirus pandemic.
With annual expenses of $190,000 and only $53,700 coming from state, county, or municipal funding, the library needs the support of the community. Even with an annual income of $7,000 from library service fees, the library needs assistance from its supporters to make up the difference. This year has been especially challenging since annual fundraisers had to be canceled and more rigorous disinfecting protocols and procedures have been implemented.
There are many ways to support the library, including asking employers to support the library, arranging United Way payroll deductions, making memorial contributions, and donating online, by mail, and in person. For more information on how to support the library or to make a donation, readers may contact Robin Gamby at 717-575-9032 or rgamby@columbiapubliclibrary.org or visit http://www.columbiapubliclibrary.org.
