Parks Department Sets Programs

Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer programs to the community. Unless otherwise noted, there is a per-person fee for the programs, and activities will take place at the Environmental Center in Lancaster County Central Park, 1 Nature's Way, Lancaster. Additionally, unless noted otherwise, registration and payment are required by noon on the business day before the event. Thursday in the Park: Local Rocks and Minerals will be open to children ages 6 to 9 on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 1 to 2 p.m. Participants will examine local rocks. Participants should dress for the weather. Children under age 6 are welcome if accompanying older siblings.

People of all ages may participate in a Family Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Participants will use GPS units to find a variety of points where they will collect listed scavenger hunt items.

Hike at Speedwell Forge, for people age 5 and up, will take place on Nov. 7 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Speedwell Forge County Park. Attendees will meet at the trailhead parking lot at 480 Speedwell Forge Road, Lititz. A naturalist will point out natural history highlights along the trail.
