Library Posts Schedule

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its programming. All library programs are free unless stated otherwise, and space is limited. Individuals should register for all programs at http://www.mslibrary.org or by calling 717-653-1510.

The library asks that patrons wear a mask when visiting the library or attending indoor programs. Returned items should be placed in the outside book drop. Returned items are quarantined for seven days, during which time fines will not accrue.

The library is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. It is closed on Fridays and Sundays. It will also be closing at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, and will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26. Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Additionally, the library is taking part in the Extraordinary Give on Friday, Nov. 20. Individuals are invited to donate to the library on that day at http://www.extragive.org.

Story Time with Miss Jan will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays, Nov. 4, 11, 18, and 25, and Thursdays, Nov. 5, 12, and 19. Families are invited to enjoy stories, songs, and a craft based on a theme of the week.

Home School Art Class, set for Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., invites children age 7 and up to create theme-inspired art based upon the works of a particular artist.

Lego Challenge will be offered on Nov. 10 at 6 and 6:30 p.m. Miss Jan will give each participating family a shoebox full of Legos, which they must use to create a project based on the night's theme.

Cap the Gap, designed for children ages 5 to 7, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 16. Miss Jan will explore a variety of topics that may be of interest to this age group.

STEM in a Sack, set for Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., is geared toward youths age 7 and up. Miss Jan will lead an on-site STEM project. Children will learn about a STEM element and then use provided materials to do a project.

Fun Family Bingo for people age 7 and up will take place on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. Prizes of books will be awarded.

History Mystery, a new homeschool offering, will give children age 7 and up a chance to learn about a real event in history and try to solve a mystery. It will take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Families are invited to visit Santa at the library on Saturday, Nov. 28, between noon and 2 p.m. Santa will greet children outside in a special canopy by the library's front door. Masks and social distancing are required.

Giant will offer two classes for children. Mini Chefs Mornings Virtual Classes, recommended for children age 6 and under, will take place on Mondays from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Junior Chef Creations Virtual Class, recommended for youths ages 7 to 18, will be available on Wednesdays from 4 to 4:30 p.m. In both programs, participants will learn to make healthy snacks. At Closely Knit, knitters and crocheters socialize and work on individual projects. No registration is necessary. The group will meet on Mondays, Nov. 9 and 23, at 1 p.m.

Golden Hours for Senior Citizens, set for Friday, Nov. 13, from 9 to 11 a.m., will give senior citizens the opportunity to visit the library when it is closed to the public in order to browse, check out books, and make use of other library services.

A Gathering of Artists Club, for artists and crafters who wish to work on projects in the company of other likeminded people, will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. Painters are asked to leave oil paints at home.

The Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club will gather on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The club is open to all stitchers, from beginner to experienced. Anyone who is new to cross-stitching may purchase a simple cross-stitch kit at any local craft store and bring it along so other club members can help them get started.
