Susquehanna Heritage and the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority (LCSWMA) provided 500 water bottles to the Columbia Borough School District to be distributed to students. Columbia Borough School District started its Back-to-School Supply Drive asking for reusable water bottles, because it had retrofitted all the water fountains to be water filling stations to reduce the chance of spreading COVID-19.
Susquehanna Heritage and LCSWMA encouraged reuse and recycling by choosing a 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottle, which helps support the entire recycling lifecycle. The bottles are made in the United States and come with a sip and pour lid with an easy carry handle. Additionally, the partners wanted the messaging to reflect how the Susquehanna River brings synergy to the community. The bottle design uses a word cluster of blue words flowing by a green shoreline.
Additional bottles are available for purchase from Susquehanna Heritage at Columbia Crossing River Trails Center, 41 Walnut St., Columbia. All proceeds from reusable water bottle sales support Columbia Crossing's educational initiatives. For more information, readers may contact 717-252-0229 or info@susquehannaheritage.org.
