Community Calendar

The Community Calendar is a weekly feature of the Community Courier.

Local clubs, civic organizations, nonprofit agencies, schools, etc., that would like to have events or meeting date information published, should contact the Community Courier in writing at least two weeks before the event. Support Group

Kacie's Cause, Parkesburg Chapter, will offer a support group for friends and family of addicted loved ones on Wednesday, Nov. 18 (and every Wednesday), at 7 p.m. in the chapel at The Parkesburg POINT youth center, 700 Main St., Parkesburg. Craft Bazaar

The annual Quarryville Fire Company Special Division Holiday Craft Bazaar will be held at the Solanco Fairgourns,172 S. Lime St., Quarryville. on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 pm. Featured will eb crafts, vendors, bakes goods, a cookbook sale and homemade chicken corn soup. There will also be a food truck on-site. Proceeds will support the fire company.

In light of COVID-19, the event will be held in the Dairy Barn/Building #4. which is an open-air building. There will be plenty of space to social distance and several hand sanitizer stations will be available. Masks are encouraged but not required.

Food Drive

Penningtonville Presbyterian Church, 406 Main St., Atglen, will hold a drive-through food donation drive on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to benefit the Octoara Area Foo Cubpar (OAFC). Volunteers will be on hand at the church to accept the food donations. People are asked to hand their donations to the attendants and to not exit their cars.

Suggested donations include canned red beets (whole or sliced), pork and beans, boxed scalloped potatoes, rice dishes in a bag, cereal, peanut butter and condiments such as mustard, ketchup and mayonnaise. Especially needed are items that are nutritious and can easily be made into a meal, including beans, dry pastas and sauces, soups and canned tuna and chicken.

The OAFC is located at 714 Main St., Parkesburg. Food donations are accepted at OAFC on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Wednesdays from noon to 6 p.m. Monetary donations are also welcome.

Library Program

"Itty Bitty Beats" is offered online by the Atglen Public Library and Radcliff Music Studio on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. The program features singing and playing with nursery rhymes and simple melodies.
