Spring Course Options Slated

The spring 2021 term of Pathways Institute for Lifelong Learning began with a virtual kickoff event on Jan. 26 on Zoom with over 200 participants. Pathways Institute provides lifelong learning opportunities that aim to enrich the mind and spirit. It is open to adults age 55 and older in Lancaster County and is hosted by Landis Communities, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz.

This spring, over 40 courses will be offered on a variety of topics, including contemporary issues, religion, history, technology, and art. Most of the courses will be presented virtually via Zoom.

Later in the spring, a selection of in-person courses is planned to take place in the High Foundation Auditorium in the Calvin G. & Janet C. High Learning & Wellness Center on the Landis Homes campus. In-person courses will be dependent on gathering protocols at the time of the course scheduled.

The courses and learning opportunities, which will run from Wednesday, March 3, through Monday, June 14, are open to all Lancaster County residents as well as residents from neighboring counties who are age 55 and older. Course titles include How Pandemics Have Hurt and Helped the Course of Human History, The Hollywood Dream Factory: A History of Hollywood Studios in the Golden Era, An Introduction to and History of African-American Poetry to 2000, Understanding Race and Dismantling Racism, and A Look Inside Virtual Reality. There is a registration fee option which includes enrollment in up to eight courses per term, as well as a per-course payment option. First-time members will receive a discount on membership when using the code Spring21Term when registering.
