The Moores Memorial Library in Christiana, which is now open for browsing, has scheduled upcoming activities for patrons of all ages.
The library, located at 9 W. Slokom Ave., Christiana, is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1 to 7 p.m.; and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon. The library is closed on Sundays. Masks and social distancing are required.
Books can also be ordered online and picked up at the library, since all of the library's electronic resources are available.
Recurring events include Preschool Story Time with Miss Kim, which takes place every Wednesday morning virtually. Readers may visit the library's Facebook page to participate. The Facebook page can be accessed from the main library website, http://www.christianalibrary.org. The stories are posted for one week and then removed from Facebook.
Early Literacy Bingo for preschool age children and their caregivers is also offered. The bingo is based on the five early literacy practices - talk, sing, read, write and play. Bingo cards are available at the library. Those who get five in a row may return the card to the library to receive a prize. The deadline to return the bingo cards is Friday, Feb. 26.
Elementary bingo and bingo for older students is also currently taking place. Students may pick up a bingo card at the library and complete a row for a prize or complete the entire card to be entered in the drawing for a gift card. Those who would like to participate should contact the library for deadlines and more information at 610-593-6683.
Lego Club in scheduled to begin in March. More details will be available soon.
The library's Read Moore Bookstore, located in the lower level of the library, is open daily. Hours vary, but visitors may ask a librarian for access to the store any time that the library is open.
The bookstore is currently holding an inventory reduction sale. All books in boxes in the Community Room are priced at two for the price of one. Shoppers may also purchase a blue library bag and fill it with books from the boxes. New books are also offered at regular prices. The library is currently not accepting new book donations.
