Abraham C. Treichler Lodge 682, in conjunction with the Community Cupboard of Elizabethtown and fire departments from Elizabethtown, Rheems and Bainbridge, will conduct a food drive on Saturday, Feb. 27. Donations of nonperishable food items only will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon at Friendship Fire and Hose Company 1, 171 N. Mount Joy St., Elizabethtown; Rheems Fire Department, 350 Anchor Road, Elizabethtown; and Bainbridge Fire Company, 34 S. Second St., Bainbridge.
The joint community effort will benefit families in several communities served by the food bank. Melissa Rhoads, director of the Community Cupboard of Elizabethtown, said that the time after the holiday season is typically challenging for her organization. Need has also been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the economy.
