Agency Shares Its Resources

The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) announced recently that it has increased its level of partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry (L&I) to provide assistance to Pennsylvanians who are unemployed.

As PHEAA call centers have had available capacity in recent months, PHEAA has redeployed some of its assets and offered its services and experience to L&I to provide assistance with the increased workload it is currently experiencing related to COVID-19 and unemployment. Since June 1, 2020, PHEAA has shared 75 of its customer service representatives, along with three supervisors, to assist L&I in reducing its backlog of applicant inquiries relating to unemployment compensation applications. PHEAA is in the process of assigning approximately 120 additional customer service representatives to further assist L&I.
