The York County Conservation District (YCCD) board of directors hired Jeffrey Hill to be the district's manager. Hill was formerly the agriculture program manager for the Lancaster County Conservation District (LCCD), a role he held for 11 years. Hill will replace Mark Kimmel, who is retiring in March after 36 years with the county.
While at LCCD, Hill worked with a contractor to develop a reporting system that, through a mapping platform, provided Lancaster County with an almost real-time view of conservation implementation across the county. The system was adopted by the state and is now one of the main systems for all districts to use.
A Penn State graduate with a degree in animal science, Hill is a certified conservation planner, a distinction given by the Natural Resources Conservation Service, which is overseen by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He also served as a conservation technician while in Lancaster, amassing 16 years of experience with LCCD.
