Egg Hunt Fundraiser Announced

The Inn at Westwynd Farm, 1620 Sand Beach Road, Hummelstown, will host a family egg hunt to benefit Prairie Fire Farms Foundation Inc. on Saturday, April 3, at 2 p.m.

Prairie Fire Farms Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located at 201 Angle Road, Grantville, that provides retraining and rehoming services for off-the-track thoroughbreds and other horses in need of a second chance. The foundation also provides equine-based recreational opportunities for low-income families and disadvantaged and at-risk youths. Carolyn Troxell, who owns The Inn at Westwynd Farm with her husband, Frank, noted that some of the horses aided by the foundation now live at Westwynd Farm.

The egg hunt will be held rain or shine. It is limited to 75 participants in total, and registrations will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event. Participants will be split into three age groups: 3 to 5 years old, starting at 2:15 p.m.; 6 to 8 years old, starting at 2:45 p.m.; and 9 to 12 years old, starting at 3:15 p.m. First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded in each age group for the most eggs collected. There will also be a drawing for a gift basket containing a free overnight stay at the inn, complete with a gourmet breakfast and another giveaway drawing for a free riding lesson package at Prairie Fire Farms.

There is a recommended donation per child to participate in the egg hunt. Pony rides will also be available starting at 2:45 p.m. for a suggested minimum donation. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Prairie Fire Farms Foundation Inc.

For the safety of all attendees, guests at the inn, staff and volunteers, COVID-19 safety protocols will be in effect. Masks are required in all areas of the property, and attendees should maintain social distancing when near those not in their family groups.
