Lititz Public Library has announced several activities that will take place in May.
Children are invited to look at the "I Spy" window on the front door of the library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, whenever they stop by. There will be new items to look for each week.
Families are invited to view a StoryWalk at the library, featuring "The Mixed-Up Truck" by Stephen Savage. The walk begins at Kissel Hill Road and Sixth Street and moves along the sidewalk around the library property.
Backyard Storytime will be available, weather permitting, on Tuesdays at 10 and 11 a.m., Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and Thursdays at 10 and 11 a.m. through Thursday, June 24. The outdoor activity is for children of all ages with a caregiver. Attendees should bring a blanket and place it near a green flag for social distancing purposes. Masks should be worn until the family is on its blanket. Online registration will be available two weeks before each program. Zoom Story Time with Miss Shannon is being held at 10 a.m. every Monday. Caretakers should email srichard@lititzlibrary.org to register, and they should provide their child's name and age.
Nutritionists from Giant will offer various programs via Zoom. Among the programs are several activities specifically for adults, with more information available at the aforementioned website. Grab and Go Craft Kits will be available for adults, one per person while supplies last. The kits will be May Day Flower Cones May Day Flower Cones on Saturday, May 1, and Flower Pens on Wednesday, May 19.
A program titled "History and Horticulture: Of Plants and Presidents: The White House Gardens Through the Years" will be presented via Zoom on Tuesday, May 4, at 7 p.m. Garden writer Jessica Damiano will provide a historical tour of the White House gardens, from the founding of the nation to the present day. Registration is required by emailing register@lititzlibrary.org, calling the library at 717-665-0261, or stopping by the library. After registration, a Zoom link will be emailed to participants.
"How Reading 'The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse' by Charlie Mackesy Can Save Your Life," a book discussion, will occur on Thursday, May 13, at 7 p.m. via Zoom. The program will include a presentation, discussion, and a video clip about how Mackesy creates his art. Attendees may bring their favorite excerpt from the book to share. Registration is required and limited; to register, email register@lititzlibrary.org. The Zoom link will be sent prior to the event.
A concert by Swing Street will take place in the library's backyard, weather permitting, on Thursday, May 27, at 6 p.m. Attendees should bring a blanket and place it near a green flag for social distancing purposes. Masks should be worn until the family is on its blanket.
