Heim Celebrates Retirement

Robert L. Heim of Willow Street recently retired as a captain with almost 21 years of service to Southwest Airlines (SWA). His celebration weekend began with his piloting 40 family members and friends on an SWA Boeing 737 jet from Baltimore (BWI) to Columbus, Ohio. Guests then attended a three-course banquet hosted by the Holiday Inn Dayton, after which special tributes were given by Bob's in-laws, adult children, and wife, Tami. The following morning, Bob escorted the group throughout the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, recounting stories of his days flying B-52s. Bob then flew his final SWA flight back to BWI, topped off with a water cannon salute by two fire trucks on either side of his jet as he taxied into his gate.

A 1978 U.S. Air Force Academy graduate, Bob served in the Air Force for almost 23 years across seven states. Bob and Tami are members of Calvary Church, and they focus on marriage-related ministry.

The Heims are the parents of Bobbi Garrett, wife of Steve, of Willow Street; Joshua Heim, husband of Kari, of Warren, Ind.; Kendralyn Kennedy, wife of Josh, of Spring Hill, Tenn.; and Rebekah Frey, wife of Nathaniel, of Mountville. There are 11 grandchildren and two on the way.
