Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Ave., Hershey, will offer a variety of in-person and virtual events. Social distancing and masks are required for all in-person programs.
The virtual Summer Reading Challenge, "Tails and Tales," for people of all ages, will occur from Tuesday, June 1, to Saturday, Aug. 21. Visit the library to register.
In addition, the library will host a variety of programs for teens and adults. Terrarium Therapy: Driftwood Planter Workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 15, at 11 a.m. Lose the Quarantine 15 with Library Friends will take place on Mondays, June 7 to Aug. 2, at 9 a.m., but will not meet on July 26.
Read Stampede Library Walking Group will meet at Shank Park, Bullfrog Valley Road, Hummelstown, on Tuesdays, June 8 to Aug. 3, at 9 a.m., but will not meet on July 27. The virtual program "An African Adventure: Researching Death on the Delta" with author Sherry Knowlton will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 12.
A Madden Physical Therapy Workshop on Knee Pain will be held on Monday, June 14, at 7 p.m. in the Reading Garden. Virtual Summer Carry and Craft sessions for children, teens, and adults will be held on Sundays, June 20 and Aug. 1 and 15, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Coloring in the Reading Garden will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, June 22, July 13, and Aug. 10. Fused Glass Class with Kathleen Forney will be held outside on Saturday, July 17, at 10 a.m.
Teen Crafts in the Reading Garden will be offered on Tuesdays, June 29, July 20, and Aug. 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The Fear of Commitment Book Group, for people age 21 or older, will meet at Cassel Vineyards of Hershey, 80 Shetland Drive, at 6 p.m. on Thursdays, June 24, July 29 and Aug. 26.
Open Mic Night in the Reading Garden will begin at 7 p.m. on Fridays, June 25 and Aug. 13. This is a family-friendly outdoor program. Interested performers may register with Rita and Aly at programs@hersheylibrary.org.
Jazz with Abe Ovadia will take place on Saturday, June 26, at 6 p.m. in the Reading Garden. The jazz guitarist will perform an hour of live music for people of all ages.
The Extreme Book Nerd Challenge registration will open on Thursday, July 1. The challenge consists of 50 books in 50 categories in 50 weeks.
A Longwood Gardens Community Read book discussion with Abra Lee will be held at 7 p.m. on July 1 via Zoom.
Several programs will be offered for children. Facebook Live! Stories for Everyone will be held on Mondays, June 14 to July 19, at 10 a.m.
Story Garden, for the whole family, will be held on Thursdays, June 17 to July 22, at 10 a.m. in the Reading Garden.
Window, Mirrors, & Sliding Glass Doors Family Book Group will host two sessions on Zoom at 2 p.m. The first session will be held on Saturday, June 19, to discuss "This Book Is Anti-Racist" by Tiffany Jewell. On Sunday, Aug. 8, "Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut" by Derrick Barnes will be discussed.
Susquehanna Folk Music Society Summer Programs will present a series of free livestreamed events. Performances will include Beverly Street on Wednesday, June 2; Cups and Crankies on Wednesday, June 30; and Andy's Wild Amphibian Show on Wednesday, July 14. All programs will begin at 2 p.m.
The Lego Club will meet on Fridays, June 18 to July 23, at 10 a.m. via Zoom. Budding architects and Lego fanatics age 6 and older are welcome.
Furry Tales is a program in the Reading Garden for struggling readers. Attendees will be paired with licensed therapy dogs and their handlers from Caring Hearts Pet Therapy. The program will be held on Wednesdays, June 16 to July 21, at 6:30 p.m.
Community blood drives will be held on Tuesdays, June 22, July 27, and Aug. 24, from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Potential donors may call the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank at 800-771-0059 to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome, but might have to wait. Masks and a form of identification are required.
