After an absence because of the pandemic, the Hopewell Christian Preschool Children's Everything Sale, which offers shoppers an opportunity to buy gently used clothing for newborns through size 16, as well as toys and baby supplies, will be held on Saturday, June 5, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The sale will take place at Hopewell United Methodist Church (UMC), 852 Hopewell Road, Downingtown.
Consignors, who normally sell spring and summer items at the spring sale and fall and winter items at the fall event, have been saving up all their merchandise, so clothing for all four seasons will be for sale on June 5, including holiday outfits, dress shoes, sneakers, Halloween costumes, bathing suits, dresses, shorts, T-shirts, winter coats, boots and snow pants.
Attendees will also be able to stock up on books, toys, games, puzzles, DVDs and electronics. There will also be baby supplies for sale, including baby toys, baby-proofing items, baby carriers, monitors, blankets, feeding supplies, toilet training implements, play mats, strollers, highchairs, car seats, jumpers and bouncers.
The Hopewell Christian Preschool Children's Everything Sale will take place in the Family Life Center at the church. This year, shoppers will enter through the back of the building and exit through the front. Shoppers who are familiar with the sale will notice a different layout than previous sales, in order to comply with COVID precautions and to make a better shopping experience.
Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the building. Masks are required; disposable masks will be available for those who need them. Physical distancing will be encouraged, and the room will be "fogged" with a disinfectant the night before the sale opens. Shoppers are encouraged to bring their own shopping bags, and a limited number of shoppers will be permitted in the building at a time. Because of the limited capacity, there will be a line to enter. The line will be outside, so in the case of inclement weather, shoppers are encouraged to bring their own umbrella and rain gear.
For the first time, there will be an option to pay with Venmo at checkout. As always, cash and checks will also be accepted. The proceeds from the sale will go toward scholarships for families in the community that need Hopewell Christian Preschool tuition assistance, and to Bright Beginnings Preschool in Coatesville. A portion of the proceeds will also go to Mas of Wellington preschool and community service center for children in Wellington, South Africa. This organization is a mission of Hopewell UMC.
Preschool registration is ongoing, and new families are welcome to register their children. Interested parents can contact the school at 610-260-1545 or email Michele Zincone, preschool director, at Michele@hopewellumc.org for more information.
