Outdoor Park Programs Set

Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer programs to the community. Unless otherwise noted, there is a per-person fee, and activities will take place at the Environmental Center in Lancaster County Central Park, 1 Nature's Way, Lancaster. Additionally, registration and payment are required by noon on the business day before the event. Mill Creek Critter Count will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, from 1 to 3 p.m. Participants age 8 and up will learn about animal diversity as they stomp up Mill Creek to catch or observe animals in their path. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes, such as old sneakers.

Hit the Trails at Speedwell Forge will take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 6, at Speedwell Forge County Park, 480 Speedwell Forge Road, Lititz. A naturalist will lead a hike along floodplain and woodland trails to showcase various habitats. Participants should bring water and dress for the weather and for walking several miles on some muddy, rocky, and hilly terrain.

Deep Forest Bathing will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on June 6 at Theodore A. Parker III Natural Area, 244 Wesley Road, Quarryville. The program will include an introduction to the practice of deep listening as well as a mindful walk through the forest at Ted Parker Natural Area. Participants will meet at the streamside lower parking lot.

Munchkin Science: Stream Science will be held on Tuesday, June 8, from 1 to 2 p.m. The program is geared to children ages 3 to 5. Participants will collect critters from Mill Creek and identify them. Closed-toe shoes, such as old sneakers, are required.
