The public is invited to learn about the bee's life inside the hive at Open Hive Day on Saturday, June 19, from 10 a.m. to noon at New Leaf Sensory Garden, 776 Rosedale Road, Kennett Square. Guests may register at http://www.tlcforscc.org/events.
Apiarist Michael Langer of Brandywine Bee Company will give an inside look at the world of honeybees. The program, co-hosted by The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County and Brandywine Bee Company, will offer adults and families the opportunity to get up close to a hive during routine inspection and expand practical beekeeping knowledge. Protective gear will be provided.
Attendees will learn about bee colonies, different bee types in the colony, bee life and what can be done at home to support and protect these pollinators. There will be a question-and-answer session.
A fee will be charged. Land Conservancy and Chester County Bee Association members will receive a discount.
