Lower Dauphin High School seniors Caiden Covell and Katie Weigle were recently recognized. Caiden was named Student of the Month for May by the Rotary Club of Hummelstown, and Katie was named Young Woman of the Month for May by the Women's Club of Hummelstown.
Caiden is the son of Jon and Stacey Covell. He was a four-year member of the choral program, earning district, regional and all-state honors. In his senior year, he was a member of the Chamber Singers and men's a cappella group. He also participated in the musical all four years of high school and was Horton the Elephant in "Seussical" in his senior year. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Math Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society.
He plans to attend Bucknell University to major in mechanical engineering. He also intends to become involved in the choral program at Bucknell.
Katie is the daughter of Ken and Melissa Weigle. She was a four-year member of the girls' basketball team and a three-year member of the girls' volleyball team, and she was a co-captain in both groups. She was also a two-year member of the National Honor Society and a three-year member of the Volunteen club.
In the community, Katie serves as a mentor in Lower Dauphin Communities That Care's Club Ophelia program. She also volunteers at the Mohler Senior Center and Ronald McDonald House.
She plans to attend the University of Florida to major in marketing.
