Lower Dauphin Middle School announced that members of the Class of 2025 earned awards at a ceremony on May 19.
Team-based academic awards were given to Blue Team members Addison Misiolek, math; Gavin Morris, science; Lauren Gula, social studies; and Daphne Linn, English, and Green Team members Holly Wealand, math; Samantha Fullerton, science; Tori Thrap, social studies; and Autumn Howarth, English. The Purple Team honorees were Ashley Jilek, math; Elias Miller, science; Kate Weaver, social studies; and Reini Patel, English. Copper Team awards were given to Anthony Conn, Emma Stephens, and Caden Slesser.
Foreign language awards were given to Tavian Boone and Apollo Vasile, Spanish; Faith Fausnight, German; Hunter Meyers, Latin; and Matilda Carver, French. Other department awards were given to Seth Kazinski and Aubrey Subbio, chorus; Dylan Kreiss and Carter McQuiddy, band; Ada Hickey and Mason Dissinger, orchestra; Jonathon Arebelo and Lauryn Parcon, music; Samantha Gallick and Madilyn Flynn-McFarland, art; Faith Fausnight and Janae Swartz, technical education; Vayda Drobenak and Ewen Murphy, family and consumer science; Ashley Economopolous and Brandon Fritz, physical education; Samantha Gallick and Chloe Chang, yearbook; and Kenneth Frost, reading.
Community awards were given to Edwin Olguin, PA Senate Boy; Kathy Segura Hernandez, PA Senate Girl; Elizabeth Day, Woodmen of the World; Christian Grow, American Legion Boy; Kylie Eismann, American Legion Girl; Owen Giampetro, Hummelstown Optimist Club; Victoria Irwin, Hummelstown Women's Club; and Paul Saylor and Brenna Killian, Falcon PRIDE by Hummelstown Rotary.
Earning general academic awards were Tamilore Bello, Jordan Braman, Collin Brinser, Chole Chang, Ashley Economopoulos, Ella Giannascoli, Evy Gray, Cheyenna Henry, Virginia Huntzinger, Alexia Kouletsis, Ashlyn LaGray, Adam Little, Owen O'Hara, Maddox Rooney, Addison Whitmyer, and Lillian Zabolotny.
In addition, 10 Lower Dauphin High School ninth-grade students were honored this school year for their participation in the Hummelstown Rotary Club's annual essay contest. The students were tasked with writing essays with the general theme of making the world a better place.
Chloee Lynch took first place and received a cash prize for her essay on her experiences with Lower Dauphin Communities That Care's Club Ophelia program. Nick Fry placed second and Megan Haines placed third; both received cash prizes. Honorable mentions include Eliyah Blugrien, Sage McKeever, Logan Pederson, Grace Peterson, Oceana Sams, and Selin Yalcinanahter.
