Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz, has announced a donation drive and a program.
In connection with the library's Summer Reading Program theme, "Tails and Tales," the library will hold a donation drive for the Pet Pantry of Lancaster County. The collection will run from Monday to Saturday, July 12 to 17.
Anyone who would like to contribute should stop by the library and visit the donation display to choose a tag that names a needed item. Items may be dropped off at the library.
The Pet Pantry of Lancaster County, formed in 2011, seeks to meet the needs of animals and their families in Lancaster County. Each year, the organization averages over 400 adoptions; 1,000 feral cat TNR surgeries; more than 70,000 pounds of dry dog and cat food distributed; more than 150 families served; over $250,000 in veterinary care; and over 50 lifesaving veterinary procedures. For more details, visit https://petpantrylc.org/.
The library has also planned Fountain Pens for Beginners, a program that will take place on Thursday, July 15, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This in-person program will focus on the various fountain pens on the market, how a fountain pen works, how to fill it, how to clean it and more. Each participant will receive a free fountain pen.
The program will be led by Kathryn Raynor, a pen-and-paper enthusiast who has been hunting for the most comfortable pen since 2006. She started digging deeper into the realm of fountain pens in 2018 and found the hobby to be complex and fun.
Registration is required. To register, visit http://www.lititzlibrary.org or call the library at 717-626-2255.
