A Summer Run For Solid Rock

Located in Quarryville, Solid Rock Youth Ministries strives to earn trust through authentic relationships with youths so lives can be changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To accomplish this mission, Solid Rock offers several activities throughout the year, including after-school programs, art and drama programs, family fun events, and more.

Solid Rock's fourth annual 5K and Fun Run will take place on Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Enola Low Grade Trail, 301 E. State St., Quarryville. Youths age 12 and under can participate in the fun run. This year's fun run will have a few obstacles, and those who finish will be given goodie bags, a medal, and a T-shirt. Same-day registration for the races will open at 7:30 a.m., the fun run will start at 8:30 a.m., and the 5K will step off at 9 a.m. A virtual option is also available.

"People should participate to learn more about Solid Rock and have fun in the community," said race director Mary Price.

Although not required, preregistration is encouraged and will close on Wednesday, Aug. 4. Those who register before Tuesday, July 20, will be guaranteed a T-shirt. Participants can register individually or as a team with five or more members. Awards and prizes will be given to the overall male and female finishers, and medals will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group of 14 and under, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and over.

"Solid Rock has been positively impacting the lives of youths and families, so it's awesome to see people come together and support our mission," stated program director Joshua Rotz.

Those who participate in the event virtually must post their race times at https://bit.ly/2VhW6sL and email the results to raeanne@solidrockquarryville.com by Aug. 7. Virtual runners are not eligible for medals.

"I'd like to thank everyone who has been coming back every year to support Solid Rock," said Price. "It's always nice to see repeats!"

Sponsorships are available. Solid Rock is partnering with Victory Church, which has become the main event sponsor this year.
