The Manheim Township Educational Foundation (MTEF) awarded 12 grants totaling more than $123,000 for the spring 2021 cycle. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, MTEF was able to award a record amount of grant funding this fiscal year totaling over $240,000 to support educational programs for Manheim Township students.
Grants awarded include Mystery Science at all six elementary schools, e-books for research projects at Manheim Township Middle School, and several more programs across the district. Grants include $15,000 for two outdoor classrooms at Reidenbaugh Elementary; $65,000 for a Design + Build Lab at Manheim Township High School (MTHS); $1,000 for e-books for research projects at the middle school; $2,850 for Headsprout Early Reading for all elementary schools; and $19,953 for One District, One Book, a school-wide reading event for all students in kindergarten through grade six and their families.
Also, $2,500 to offset the costs for the MTHS Quiz Bowl team to compete at the national level; $3,000 for Sprouting Learners parent-child workshops for all elementary schools; $3,600 for All First Graders Can Read for first-grade students at Schaeffer Elementary School; $7,494 for a subscription to Mystery Science Units for all students in kindergarten through grade four; $1,545 to create a Ceramics Club at Brecht and Schaeffer elementary schools; $200 for the James L. and Jane L. Wertz Memorial Scholarship at MTHS; and $1,000 for the Sally Hawthorne Art Education Scholarship at MTHS.
