Columbia High School Thespian Troupe 289 has announced its inaugural Play-in-a-Day Fest, which will begin with an open house and reception on Thursday, July 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will continue on Friday, July 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, July 31, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the performance, which is open to public, will be held on July 31 at 7 p.m.
The festival will be held in the auditorium at Columbia Junior/Senior High School, 901 Ironville Pike, Columbia. Visitors should use the main entrance.
Play in a Day is a creative adventure that compresses all the conceptualizing, writing, casting, designing, rehearsing and performing of an original play into a 24-hour period. Participants are given a set of parameters around which they work in teams to create, rehearse and perform eight- to 15-minute plays. The open house and reception will allow attendees opportunities to meet the members of Troupe 289 and receive more information.
Registration is open to anyone age 12 and over. Participants do not need to have any prior experience with theater. Participation and performance are free.
The festival will follow any CDC and state guidelines, as well as Columbia High School policies, that are effective at the time of the event.
