Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue (DVGRR) will hold its monthly "Meet and Greet the Goldens" from 10 a.m. to noon at its Golden Gateway facility, 60 Vera Cruz Road, Reinholds, on Saturday, Aug. 14.
The community may meet the golden retrievers and other dogs that are available for adoption. Staff will be on hand to answer questions, and food will be available for purchase. There is no admission charge. Attendees are asked not to take photos. For more information, contact Inza at events@dvgrr.org or call 717-484-4799.
Additionally, DVGRR was chosen to receive a grant from the Grey Muzzle Organization. DVGRR was one of 77 animal welfare groups out of 266 applicants to share in $616,000 to help senior dogs. The grant will help to defray costs of veterinary and dental care for these older dogs.
DVGRR has been recognized for its work in rescuing and rehabilitating puppy mill breeder dogs. Many of the senior dogs that arrive at the facility are retired breeder dogs from commercial breeding operations; others are those surrendered from previous owners due varied circumstances.
Over the past 13 years, the national nonprofit Grey Muzzle has provided more than $3.1 million in grants to support the care of aging dogs. For more information, visit http://www.greymuzzle.org.
