A short sunset hike of 3 miles will start at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13. Attendees should meet at the back area of the parking lot at Bridgeway Church, 255 Reynolds Mill Road, York. The group will hike across Perrydell Farm and back, and attendees may bring money to buy an ice cream cone or chocolate milk at the dairy. On Saturday, Aug. 14, a group will hike from Gathland State Park to the C&O Canal Towpath, a distance of 7 miles, with the option to hike back to the starting point, for a total of 14 miles. This activity includes hiking on the Appalachian Trail, viewing the Potomac Valley from Weverton Cliffs, and learning about Civil War history while hiking in the South Mount Recreation Area. The hike may be strenuous due to the cliffs. Attendees should meet at the 1201 Woodberry Road parking area for a 7 a.m. departure. There is a carpool fee. A loop hike in Pine Grove Furnace State Park will be held on Sunday, Aug. 15. Participants should meet at the Furnace Stack Pavilion at 4:30 p.m. They will hike until dark, including a visit to Pole Steeple, travel along Mountain Stream, and an ice cream stop after the hike. The club will offer a full day of briskly paced hiking on the trails of Lake Redman, Lake Williams, and Nixon Park on Saturday, Aug. 21. Route options will range from 5 to 20 miles. Attendees should meet at the boat launch at William Kane County Park, located on Hess Farm Road in York, in time for a 7 a.m. departure.
