Thresherman's Reunion Planned

The Rough & Tumble Engineers will kick off its 73rd Thresherman's Reunion on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at 7 a.m. with special features, daily events, special evening programs, displays, and demonstrations, all relating to tractors, engines, and more. The event will take place at the Rough and Tumble Engineers Museum, 4997 Lincoln Highway East, Kinzers. The public is invited to attend, and bus groups are welcome. Show activities will conclude on Saturday, Aug. 21, at 5 p.m.

Daily events will include opening ceremonies at 9 a.m., a whistle blow at noon, the Pagaent of Threshing at 1 p.m., and the Parade of Power at 3:30 p.m. Homemade food, steam railroad rides, a flea market and shaded areas will also be available throughout the day,

Programs will be scheduled for each day as follows: Wednesday, threshing at 6 p.m. and tractor games at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, Aug. 19, a children's pedal pull at 1 p.m. and an antique tractor pull at 6 p.m., with weigh-in to start at 4 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 20, steam games at 6:30 p.m.; and Saturday, a garden tractor pull at 10 a.m., with weigh-in to start at 8 a.m.

Features of the Thresherman's Reunion will include oddball or orphan tractors, Ford and Fordson tractors, and New Holland gas engines, as well as a continuously running sawmill. Displays or demonstrations will include steam traction engines, antique tractors, hit-and-miss gas engines, Rumely equipment, a blacksmith shop, and a line shaft machine shop.

Separate donation fees have been set for teens and adults and for youths ages 6 to 12; children under the age of 6 will be admitted for free. Parking is free, and shuttle service will be provided. For more details, go to http://www.roughandtumble.org or call 717-442-4249.
