Sep 03, 2021 -

Open Stage, 25 N. Court St., Harrisburg, will present the one-man show "Every Brilliant Thing" on Friday, Sept. 3, to Sunday, Sept. 26, with Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30 p.m.; shows at 7:30 p.m. on Sundays, Sept. 12 and 26; and a show at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19.

"Every Brilliant Thing" tells the story of one man's journey from childhood to adulthood and his desire to document "every brilliant thing" in the form of a paper list. Stuart Landon stars in the role of the Narrator with direction by local artist and Open Stage alumna Karen Ruch. The play, which addresses issues of mental health, familial relationships, and suicide, is a collaboration between playwright Duncan Macmillan and British comedian Jonny Donahoe, who originated the role of the Narrator in "Every Brilliant Thing." First produced in London in 2013, the play made its off-Broadway debut in 2014. A performance was filmed for broadcast on HBO in 2016.

Open Stage reopened in May with a summer of live concerts and cabarets, but this will be its first live stage play in over a year. Now in its 36th season, Open Stage is presenting a season of shows designed to "break through," welcoming audiences to engage in the communal experience of live theater.
