LCAA Slates Anniversary Events

Lancaster County Art Association (LCAA), 149 Precision Ave., Strasburg, is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year with special events, exhibits, workshops and classes.

The Fall Membership Show and 85th Anniversary Exhibit will open with a reception on Sunday, Sept. 19, in the Kauffman Gallery and continue through Thursday, Oct. 14. Featuring artwork by longtime as well as new members, this exhibit has a professional and a nonprofessional division, with work in a wide variety of mediums.

The Fair-Weather Painters, LCAA's Plein Air Group will exhibit paintings and drawings created outdoors in and around Lancaster County and beyond this past year. The artists in this group work outdoors, tackling the elements to capture the perfect light of the outdoor scene. Their work will be featured in the Steinmetz Gallery from Sept. 19 to Oct. 14.

Special awards were presented at the 85th Anniversary Celebration Picnic, held on Aug. 29 in Strasburg. Volunteers who received awards are Carol H. Dale, Michael Engel Award; Doris Morrison and Henrietta Holton-Thomas, Honorary Life Membership Award; and David Morrison, One-Year Honorary Membership Award. Members were treated to an artwork critique by longtime art educator Richard Ressel and to music by Brian Dale.

Anniversary events will continue this fall, including the "Still Super" Used Art Supply Sale from Saturday, Oct. 2, to Sunday, Oct. 17. LCAA is accepting donations of used art supplies for this annual fundraiser.
