Library Plans October Activities

Eastern Lancaster County Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer a variety of activities to the public. All events and activities can be found at http://www.elancolibrary.org on the calendar. Electronic resources, including the library's e-book and e-audiobook collection, are available at https://lancasterlibraries.overdrive.com/ and http://online.lancasterlibraries.org.

Outdoor Preschool Story Time, for children ages 3 to 6, will take place on Tuesdays in October at 10:30 a.m. Outdoor Toddler Thursdays, for children ages 1 to 3, will be held on Oct. 7 to 28 at 10:30 a.m. Blankets are recommended for seating at both programs.

The virtual Dungeons and Dragons Club, for youths ages 10 to 19, will meet every Thursday in October at 6 p.m. For more details and to register, email cbarrows@elancolibrary.org.

The Readers' Roundtable Book Discussion, for adults, will meet on Monday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. in the downstairs boardroom of the library.

Hooks and Needles Yarn Craft Club, for knitters and crocheters of all ages and skill levels, will meet on Monday, Oct. 11, at 6:30 p.m.

Pumpkin Painting, a family activity, will be offered on Monday, Oct. 18, at 6:30 p.m. Pumpkins will be provided for children and teens through age 19.

Lego Creation Club, for people age 3 and up, will be held outdoors on Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m.

Youths in grades seven through 12 may read any book in preparation for attending the Virtual Teen Book Club meeting on Monday, Oct. 25, at 6:30 p.m. They may also join the Virtual Teen Advisory Group on Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. to help plan future teen events at the library. Youths may email cbarrows@elancolibrary.org to obtain the Zoom link for either of these programs.

In observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, October, adults may join a book discussion of "The Invisible Bruise" by local author Kristin Manser on Thursday, Oct. 28, at 6:30 p.m. Manser will participate in the discussion. "The Invisible Bruise" shares Manser's story so that victims and advocates can better understand how emotionally healthy people can end up in verbally abusive and manipulative relationships, how to spot the signs of abuse, and how to break free from the control and despair of emotional abuse.
