St. John Neumann Catholic School (SJNCS) recently elected its Student Service Council representatives and officers for the 2021-22 school year. The Student Service Council is an organization of elected students whose purpose is to promote, through its activities, the ideals and values of Catholic education. The council determines which projects and activities will best encourage scholarship, citizenship, leadership, good human relations and cultural values.
The council is composed of eight class representatives - two students from each class in grades four through six and one each from grades seven and eight - and five officers elected from seventh and eighth grades. This year's officers are Ava Thurmond, president; Cristian Evans, vice president; Natalie Cellucci, secretary; Aidan Nguyen, treasurer; and Gianna Ostroski, public relations. The representatives are Christina Cropper, Mateo Curry, Madeline Keyes, Finn Milligan, Alice Reigner, Caitlyn Reynolds, Gavin Schoenberger, and Ethan Zoll.
The council provides its members with an educational opportunity to learn about democracy, problem solving and service. It is meant to provide the students at SJNCS with opportunities to learn and to grow into responsible individuals following the teachings of Jesus Christ. It represents the students of SJNCS and, through its activities, seeks to exemplify the best traditions of the school.
