The Association of Faculty and Friends (AFF) of Penn State Health, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine has advised the public that sponsorships for the Peace Tree will be accepted through Friday, Nov. 5. The project was begun 34 years ago, and the tree's lights are donated in memory of or in honor of a loved one or someone who made a difference in another's life. The tree represents peace, hope, unity, joy and love.
According to co-chairs Lisa Braccini-Barletta and Michelle Carraher, this year, the Peace Tree lighting event will be held virtually, with the Zoom link forwarded to those who donated. The event, including live musical performances, will take place on Thursday, Nov. 18, at 5:30 p.m. The event program will include the names of all individuals honored through donations received by Nov. 18. All donors will receive a printed copy of the program.
Funds raised by the AFF support the Peace Tree tradition and the mission of AFF, which is to promote medical education, research, clinical care, and scholarship and to serve the needs of the community.
