Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer programs to the community. Unless otherwise noted, there is a per-person fee, and activities will take place at the Environmental Center in Lancaster County Central Park, 1 Nature's Way, Lancaster. Jump Into STEM - Hibernation and Migration, for children ages 3 to 5, will be offered on Thursday, Nov. 18, from 10 to 11 a.m. Through a short presentation and interactive activities, preschoolers will learn about hibernation and migration, as well as the different animals in Pennsylvania that hibernate and migrate.
Thursday in the Park: Native American Games will be held on Nov. 18 from 1 to 2 p.m. Children will experience a few of the games that Native American children played. They will explore the life skills taught and practiced with games. Attendees should dress for indoor and outdoor activity. The class is geared for children ages 6 to 9, but children under age 6 are welcome if accompanying older siblings.
A Full Moon Scavenger Hunt for people of all ages will be available from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 18. Participants will have free range of the woods and fields surrounding the Environmental Center as they attempt to find specified items by the light of the full moon.
A Full Frost and Beaver Moon Hike for people of all ages will be held on Friday, Nov. 19, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Under the full moon, participants will walk the trails around the pond and along the creek while staying alert for the sights and sounds of nature.
