New Book Spotlights Lafayette

Bruce E. Mowday recently released a new book, "Lafayette at Brandywine: The Making of an American Hero," which details Lafayette's many personal sacrifices as he fought for America's freedom.

Lafayette was a 20-year-old French nobleman who fought in the Battle of Brandywine and was instrumental in the formation of an alliance between America and France, said Mowday. Lafayette was the nation's guest during a celebratory tour in 1824 and 1825, and he received many accolades during his stops across the United States.

The cover of the 275-page book, which was released on Oct. 30, features an original painting by nationally known artist Adrian Martinez of Downingtown. The book can be purchased from bookstores, on the internet and from Barricade Books. Signed copies can be obtained by contacting Mowday at mowday@mowday.com.

Mowday, who resides in West Chester, has authored more than 20 books on history, true crime, business and sports. Among his books is a detailed history of the Battle of Brandywine, "September 11, 1777, Washington's Defeat at Brandywine Dooms Philadelphia." For more information, visit http://www.mowday.com.
