Penn State Extension will offer an in-person group-based strength training program for adults age 40 and older. LIFT (Lifelong Improvements through Fitness Together) will take place in Lancaster and Quarryville from Tuesday, Jan. 4, to Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022. Snow dates will be determined in March, if necessary.
A free informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 7, from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Training Room at the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster. All new registrants are required to attend. The deadline to register for the program is Dec. 7.
All classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Lancaster classes will be held from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m., 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., or 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Farm and Home Center. Quarryville classes will be held from 9 to 10:15 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. to noon at Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren, 1392 Robert Fulton Highway.
LIFT is designed to promote improvements in functional fitness or the ability to perform activities of daily living with ease. Participants will be encouraged to work toward achieving their own goals in a group setting.
There is a cost for the program. Some insurance policies may reimburse participants based on their attendance. Attendees should check with their insurance provider for more information.
